What Will This Ski Season Look Like
Dated: October 12 2020
With the second snowfall of the season and more in the forecast, people want to know how the "new normal" will affect this years ski season. As we are well aware of Covid-19 and the pandemic surrounding us, Winter Park Resort has been working hard on creating guidelines that will help us stay safe while enjoying the mountain this winter. If you plan on visiting Winter Park Resort, here are a few things to expect this season.
Lift lines and loading and unloading lifts will look a little different. Guests are expected to stay 6 feet apart while waiting in line, and will also need to be wearing a face covering, the lift mazes will be adjusted to help with social distancing. Face coverings will also be required while loading, riding, and unloading the lift.
Dining at the resort will consist of more grab and go options, and other limitations that they're still working on. Unfortunately Sunspot Mountaintop Après and Dinner will not be offered this year. If you plan on lodging at any of Winter Park Resort's facilities keep in mind face coverings are required in any common areas, check-in will be contactless, and hot tubs, pools or shared spaces my not be open this winter.
Equipment rentals will still be available this season, but will have to be booked in advance. All rentals will be pre-set with a reservation to pick up your gear, if you are more than 15 minutes late for your time slot you will have to wait until after 10:30am to pick up your equipment. They please ask that family and friends not getting equipment not come along for the fitting. Lessons will be offered for ages 6+, children 3-5 can be enrolled in private lessons, and group lessons will involve no more than 5 guests. They will continue to offer the 4 week kids program, and any unused multi-pack lessons from last season will still be honored. Most of the activities and tours will still be offered with modified group sizes. Unfortunately, child care and The Winter Park Express will not be available.
As of now, daily lift tickets and 4-packs are not available. By trying to avoid overcrowding on the mountain, they will be prioritizing season pass holders by not requiring reservations. Make sure you check out their website for more information on when daily lift tickets will be going on sale, these will be limited and require booking in advanced. They are also implementing more relaxed cancellation terms considering the ever-changing conditions right now.
With the new code of conduct, WPR assures you that with over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, everyone will have plenty of room to enjoy the slopes this winter!
